The Mayor of Chepelare Municipality, Boran Hadzhiev, was among the specially invited participants in a discussion meeting with the Minister of Tourism of Greece, Harry Theoharis, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.

The meeting took place today, Friday, January 31, in the “Royal 1” hall of the Sofia Hotel Balkan in the capital, and the invitation to Mr. Hadzhiev was personally extended by the Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, Mrs. Nikolina Angelkova. Representatives of state institutions, the tourism sector, nationally representative employers’ organizations, the non-governmental sector, the academic community, investors, and tourism experts took part in the forum discussions.
Nowadays, bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Greece are of strategic importance, according to the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism. Over the past 5 years, the number of Greek tourists visiting Bulgaria has increased by nearly 12%. In this regard, as part of Minister Theoharis’s official visit to Bulgaria, a Joint Action Program will be signed between the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Tourism of Greece, while the invitation extended to the Mayor of Chepelare Municipality is a form of recognition of the role of our region in bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.
