The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Desislava Taneva, attended the official opening of a museum corner created on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Bulgarian writer, publicist, and forester, Academician Nikolay Haytov. It is located in the Hvoyna State Forestry Enterprise, renamed by order of Minister Taneva as the “Acad. Nikolay Haytov” State Forestry Enterprise in the village of Hvoyna, Chepelare Municipality.

During the opening, the Minister of Agriculture expressed her gratitude for the honor bestowed upon her as a representative of the state to contribute to the preservation of Bulgaria’s national identity in memory of the life and work of Nikolay Haytov. The Mayor of Chepelare Municipality, Boran Hadzhiev, also attended the official opening.
“I am glad that here in the Rhodope Mountains there is a corner dedicated to Haytov. This is the place where this remarkable person created, lived, and left a lasting mark in the minds of many generations of Bulgarians,” said Desislava Taneva. She congratulated the writer’s family and heirs for their efforts to preserve his memory. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Nikolay Haytov’s birth, together with the “Pament” Foundation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry prepared a calendar for 2020. It contains 12 photographs of places in the Rhodope Mountains described in Haytov’s books, with one of his quotes for each month.

“We must respect our history, preserve it, and keep alive the memory of the people who shaped our national identity. I am glad that we are gathered here today on such an occasion,” Minister Taneva added.
For his part, Zdravets Haytov, Chairman of the “Pament” Foundation, stated that renaming the Hvoyna State Forestry Enterprise to the “Acad. Nikolay Haytov” State Forestry Enterprise is a spiritual sign of belonging.
