Village of Orehovo
The village of Orehovo is located 28 km from Chepelare. Orehovo is a pioneer in rural tourism in Dolen Rupchus. The local people opened the doors of their houses hospitably at the end of the 20th century to share with their guests the beauty of the surrounding nature, the sights of the region, their traditions and culinary skills. It is located at about 900 m. above sea level on a wide southern slope towards the Oreshitsa River - one of the sunniest villages in the region. In addition to hospitality, typical dishes and genuine rural coziness, the village also attracts visitors with its wonderful climate with small temperature differences, clean air and numerous opportunities for walks. The forests around Orekhovo are mixed (of deciduous and coniferous trees), and the meadows abound with herbs.In the village of Orehovo, a historical and ethnographic museum collection has been arranged at the community center “Rhodope Future”, containing all types of tools and objects used in the daily life of the Orehovo residents until the mid-20th century. The exposition also contains archaeological finds found in the vicinity of the village.Not far to the west is the Persenk hut, past which passes a section of the Roman road that has been perfectly preserved to this day. At the end of September, the people of Orekhovo and their guests celebrate the Day of the Walnut.
