Pamporovo is continuing its investment program to modernize the ski zone and improve conditions for tourists. The resort is the only one in Bulgaria to have replaced two lift facilities over the past three years, and investments in infrastructure, the artificial snowmaking system, safety, and slope preparation are continuing this year as well, Stefan Prisadov, Executive Director of Pamporovo AD, told Bgtourism.bg.
He points out that the primary goal of the investments is to offer higher service quality, greater comfort, and an even higher level of safety for all resort visitors.
The investment program is not limited solely to replacing the lift facilities. Pamporovo continues to consistently modernize its artificial snowmaking system and the fleet of machinery used for preparing and maintaining the ski slopes.
In the last year and a half alone, approximately €1,100,000 has been invested in the artificial snowmaking system. Around €200,000 has also been invested in new equipment for slope grooming and preparation.
Nearly 95 percent of tourists in Pamporovo during the summer are Bulgarians; interest in the mountains and family tourism remains high.
For the upcoming winter season, the resort is also introducing a specialized machine for the summer maintenance of ski slopes. It mows, mulches, and treats the terrain, aiming to create a high-quality base for winter operations.
"The idea is to create a better foundation, with the slopes mowed and well-prepared. At the same time, this makes artificial snowmaking easier and helps prevent erosion. The grass becomes denser, and soil erosion is naturally reduced," the Executive Director of Pamporovo AD explained to Bgtourism.bg.
Over the past two years, the company has also placed significant emphasis on safety within the ski zone. To this end, substantial investments are being made in certified safety netting from European manufacturers, certified protective padding, and various safety structures along the slopes.
Part of the program also includes eco-friendly anti-erosion measures—such as the construction of retaining walls, slope stabilization, and the prevention of landslide processes.
The terrain is treated with a special mixture that aids in soil stabilization and restoration; once preparation is complete, the process moves to the next stage of winter preparations—snowmaking on the slopes.
This comprehensive approach follows the best practices of leading European mountain resorts and aims not only to improve the quality of ski infrastructure but also to ensure more sustainable and safe use of mountain terrain.
Pamporovo has geared its preparations for the new winter tourist season towards quality, safety, and an even better experience for its guests.
