Chepelare. The European Ski Orienteering Championship, which is a round of the World Cup, will take place from January 22 to 27 in Chepelare, according to the municipal press center in the beautiful Rhodope town. The competition will be organized in compliance with anti-epidemic measures, as the opening ceremonies and official gatherings have been canceled, and the award ceremonies have been made public and kept to a minimum. Nearly 230 cross-country skiers from 22 countries will gather in Chepelare. We remind you that Chepelare won the title of European City of Sports in 2022.

The sporting event will be a round of the World Cup, and together with it will be held the world championships for veterans and youth under 23. One of the biggest stars in the discipline is the world and European champion Stanimir Belomazhev, who is the brightest name among 13- those Bulgarian participants who will introduce us to men and women. There are interesting names in our men's team. Father and son will compete against each other in two of the starts. Veteran Nikolay Dimitrov is scheduled for all five competitions, and his 15-year-old son Dimitar Dimitrov will take part in the sprint and middleweight division. Two more young athletes are included in the team - Yordan Yordanov and Boris Karaboykov. The team is complemented by the experienced Boyan Sofin.
For women, Andreya Dyaksova and Teodora Malcheva will take part in all five starts, and Evangelina Dyaksova is scheduled for three competitions. Kalina Nedyalkova and Tsveta Komitska are two other names in the team, which is complemented by the young athletes from the Gabrovo club "Uzana" Ana-Marea Ignatova and Yasemin Zankova, who will try their hand at sprint and middle distance. The coach of the selection is Ivan Belomazhev. A total of 20 countries will send representatives, with the most complete teams being the traditional forces in Sweden, Finland, Russia and Norway.
