For the fourth consecutive year, our winter resort of Pamporovo, located in Chepelare Municipality, will mark Bulgaria’s National Day, March 3, in a unique and interesting way. Local residents and thousands of tourists will witness the now traditional mass ski parade in folk costumes. The descent starts from Snezhanka Peak.
This wonderful unifying event brought a lot of joy and festive spirit during the previous editions. Guests of our winter resort were impressed by the beauty of the smiling people in colorful traditional costumes against the white snow.
The ceremonial descent with the large flag will begin at 11:30 a.m. on March 3 from the Snezhanka Tower and will proceed down Ski Run No. 6. The finale will take place at Studenets Square. There, everyone attending the celebration gathers to traditionally hear the national anthem at exactly 12:00 noon. The enthusiasts are also expected to dance a horo on skis.
From 10:30 to 11:20 a.m., the lift ride to Snezhanka Tower will be free of charge for everyone wishing to take part in the ceremonial descent from the peak. The event is organized by the association “The Great Ski Descent with Flags and Costumes – March 3”, in partnership with Pamporovo AD. The initiator of the event is Antoniya Kamenichka, who shares that she hopes one day this event will be registered in the Guinness Book of Records.
