Chepelare Municipality stands behind the development of education, innovation and young talents in the region by supporting the team of PG SGST "Nikola Vaptsarov" in their participation in one of the most prestigious international energy efficiency competitions - Shell Eco Marathon for the 5th consecutive year! During an official meeting with the Mayor of Chepelare Municipality, Mr. Boran Hadzhiev, the student team presented their projects, goals and preparations for the upcoming edition of the competition. The Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to initiatives that promote technical education and innovative thinking among young people.
In recent years, the Municipality of Chepelare has consistently supported the team in its participation on the international stage, and this year the school takes a historic step forward.
For the first time, a Bulgarian school will participate in the "urban type" category of electric prototypes, as well as simultaneously in two competition categories: • prototype with electric battery; • urban type with electric battery; Their achievements speak for themselves:
• the first Bulgarian team with over 900 km/kWh;
• the first school in our country with two teams in the competition;
• for the first time, a Bulgarian school in the "urban type" category;
These achievements place the team of the PG SGST "Nikola Y. Vaptsarov" among the leading educational institutions in Europe participating in similar types of engineering and technological challenges.
The team's ambition is clear - to achieve a podium finish in both categories, aiming not only for sporting and technical success, but also for establishing Bulgaria as a country with potential in the field of sustainable technologies and electric mobility.
In parallel with the preparation for the competition, the team is already working on its next big challenge - developing a project in the field of autonomous vehicles, which further builds on the students' engineering and scientific competencies.
